The national dish of Cambodia is Amok (Fish Amok)

🍛 Fish Amok

Fish amok is a fragrant steamed curry, traditionally made with freshwater fish, mixed into a rich paste of:

  • Kroeung (lemongrass, galangal, turmeric, kaffir lime)
  • Coconut milk
  • Egg

The mixture is steamed in banana leaf cups and served with rice. Unlike many neighboring curries, amok is mild, creamy, and aromatic rather than spicy, making it distinctively Cambodian.
