Flag of Australia

The flag of Australia features a dark blue field with three main elements:

  1. Union Jack in the top left corner, symbolizing Australia’s historical ties to the United Kingdom.
  2. Commonwealth Star (or Federation Star) directly below the Union Jack, with seven points representing the six states and the territories of Australia.
  3. Southern Cross constellation on the right side, depicted with five white stars, representing a prominent constellation visible in the Southern Hemisphere, symbolizing Australia’s geographical location.

Adopted in 1901, the flag combines elements reflecting both Australia’s British heritage and its unique identity in the Southern Hemisphere.
