The flag of Belarus consists of three horizontal stripes. The top stripe is red, occupying about two-thirds of the flag, the middle stripe is green, and the bottom stripe is a thin white vertical band on the left side featuring a traditional Belarusian red ornamental pattern.
The red and green colors are symbolic, with red representing the struggle and sacrifices of the nation and green symbolizing Belarus’ forests and fields. The ornamental pattern on the left side is a traditional Belarusian design that reflects the country’s cultural heritage.
This flag has been in use since 1995, following a national referendum, and replaced the white-red-white flag that was previously used during the early 1990s.
